After getting somewhat wet on the Brighton run, it was a real contrast to visit this event in bright sunshine.

 During the day, bus trips were arranged to visit the site of the original AEC works in Walthamstow. Built in 1905 for the London Motor Omnibus Company, it was taken over by London General in 1908 to build their buses under the name of Associated Equipment Company. The first buses were of the X type and the B type followed in 1910. Most of the buildings on the site have been replaced, but one section (shown here) of the original factory remains.  After leaving the event, I could not miss a quick trip down the road to visit the London Borough of Waltham Forest's base at Low Hall. The reason? RF 433 was one of several RFs that were once operated by LBWF on school work, based at this depot. Photo: John Hinson |
