Preserved Buses and the Dartford Crossing

At the time of writing, little public information seems to be available on the charges for buses (whether preserved or otherwise) at the toll booths for the Dartford Bridge and Tunnel. Road signs and information on the net seems to simply not mention buses.

Correspondence with the Customer Service Manager of Le Crossing, who manage the crossing, confirmed in July 2006 that the current pricing system is as follows:

  0600 - 2200 2200 - 0600 Equivalent to (in price)
Buses with two axles £1.80 £1.00 Van
Buses with three or more axles £2.90 £1.00 HGV

The only exemptions from this are buses operating a scheduled service for fare-paying passengers, currently only routes X80 and X90 operated by Ensign Buses.

All prices are subject to change at some time or other. Provided the pricing structure itself remains the same, you can cross-refer the prices for vans and HGVs on the approach signs.
